Strategies for success in your fitness program!
By · CommentsWhen I was in Orlando last week I heard some great and inspirational speakers. The principles that they presented were geared towards success in business, however, these same principles apply to our everyday lives. I think these little nuggets might give you some encouragement for your fitness program.
Get a New Perspective
Realize that there are 2 main reasons people fail. Number one, the thoughts that occupy your mind and
number 2, the people you associate with. Decide to change your mindset, think about things that you are going to accomplish, not the ones you have failed to accomplish. Realize it is ok to fail sometimes, just charge ahead afterwards.
Find your Why?
Determine why you want to get into shape, why you want to lose weight or why you want to _________________. Write down why this is important to you and what it will mean to you once you have accomplished it. Get specific, this is going to help direct you in the coming weeks and months.
Be a Planner
This is a big one, I really struggle here myself. Block your time, plan your meals, plan your week, plan your days. Work from lists, prioritize and do those things first. Managing your Read More→
Some of the best supplements for women’s fitness.
By · CommentsThough we all know that we should get plenty of fiber in our diet is good and that vitamin C makes a big difference when you are looking at moving forward and getting healthy after an illness, the question is always there, what supplements are specifically good for women? Which ones should I be taking? When you walk into the store you will be bombarded with a million different options so start with the ones here to get you going.
As women age, they often find that they have issues with their bodies that might have been put off by taking vitamins or supplements earlier. Make sure that you are getting some of the following supplements into your diet and you will find that your body and even your mood can stay in much better shape.
If you are currently taking no vitamins at all and feel that you could use the extra nutritional insurance I would suggest taking a high quality multi-vitamin/multi-mineral. There are some really good options out there these days and you don’t even have to spend a fortune for them.
When you are looking at different kinds of oil supplements that need to make it into your diet, there are several that you need to look into. Three of the top oils that you need to look into are borage seed oil, black currant oil and primrose oil. They are particularly useful to women who have issues with PMS and menopausal hot flashes. They are important because they will serve as prostaglandin regulators and due to this, they can help you balance your hormonal levels. Also remember that one of the more pleasant benefits of these three oils is that they will help moisturize your skin and keep it feeling supple. Read More→

1-Too many refined, processed or sugary foods- These foods have negative affect on blood sugar and insulin levels. Consequently, when insulin levels are are high your metabolism favors storing fat. So you may be exercising but not seeing the weight come off like you think it should. Instead, replace these foods with fibrous fruits and veggies or nuts and seeds (almonds, pecans, sunflower seeds etc.).
2-Too many total calories- If you eat more than you burn off in activity you will gain weight, no mystery there. With that said, most of us have no idea how much we actually eat each day. Research shows that people tend to underestimate caloric intake by as much as 25%/day! This can be avoided by keeping a food log manually or using an online tool like www.calorieking.com. For other useful tools refer to the weight loss toolbox. Read More→

As a personal trainer, everywhere I go people I see and meet are always asking me questions related to weight loss, fitness, nutrition-you name it. I am fortunate enough to work in a field that people like to talk about.
I really enjoy it and love to help people even if it is just answering a question about a topic that I really take for granted.
Other things that happen to me on a fairly frequent basis is that when I run into someone I know in the grocery store, they will look in my cart to see what I am shopping for. When in a restaurant they will carefully look at my plate to see what I ordered. If in the break room at work people carefully observe what I might purchase from a vending machine. The list goes on…….
